Champion and winner of the J Blades & Sons (Grocers) Trophy, was a Blue x Limx Heifer from JR Blades, Hawes which made £2020 to EW & JR Parkinson, Dunsop Bridge

Reserve Champion and winner of the Bainbridge Vets Shield was a Lim x Heifer from WM & JE Shuttleworth, Barbon and made £1610 to G & JE Bell, Long Marton.

 

We had a quality show of cattle forward today. Some strong Store Cattle forward. Anything with age or size were keenly bid for and just the younger or grazing cattle harder to place. Steers topped at £2400 & £2000 for Lim Blks from E & K Bland and AT Pratt with 3 at £2000 or above. BRB for JF & GR Howard made £2230 and some strong Angus from T Metcalfe & Son achieved £2200, £2150 and £1950. Heifers were headed with a smart Lim Hfrs from P Dinsdale & Son at £2420 & £1980 with E & K Bland at £2040. A grand consignment from JC Fawcett of Blue Hfrs out of Friesian cows making £2360, £2240, £2230 with a further 8 lots of £2000 or above. Angus Hfrs again topped by T Metcalfe & Son at £1920 followed by G & P Middleton at £1620 and £1600 x2 for JF Bowe.

We had quality show of heifers with Calves at foot from 2 vendors and majority from JW & ME Taylor & Sons with these commanding some high prices with most going to regular satisfied customers. Outfits sold to a top price of £4350 with a further 4 lots sold at £4000 and above, all either Lim x or Blue heifers with Lim x Calves at foot. All heifers from 2 vendors averaged £3860.
